However, if you dispute the claim without a valid reason the content owner can choose to have the video taken down, if this happens then the account will receive a copyright strike. If your video is flagged by YouTube as matching a third party claim you will need to dispute the claim through the YouTube dispute process, you will not receive a copyright strike on content ID claims. In some cases, they (wrongfully) choose to enforce that on YouTube. What do I do?īecause we don't create the songs ourselves (we source them from 3rd parties), other parties may have copyright on the material. YouTube has flagged my video with your music.

I, too, think Camtasia is too expensive, but I really like it for a number of reasons, and might end up buying it. There are quite a few other free pieces of video editing software, but most of them have some kind of disadvantage in comparison to Shotcut (e.g., a larger footprint not as feature rich having to register at a website in order to download the software). I am suggesting Shotcut as an alternative because it has a pretty small footprint, and is continually being updated, and has a very helpful user forum (the reddit is pretty helpful, too). It is completely free (although in the Microsoft store it is something like USD $12, so avoid downloading it there).ĭaVinci Resolve is brilliant, but one of the few 'features' missing from the free version (which is 97% like the paid version) is the ability to export/render to H.265 and H.264, which are the common amateur video codecs, so that is a real disadvantage.

If you do not want to use Camtasia because of the price, have a look at Shotcut. Therefore - my question indirectly is: Is Camtasia Studio still relevant and worth it in 2022?

I am not planning on using CS for my whole life. Honestly, I think this is a ridiculous price to ask - I pay for plenty of software and I don't mind at all, as long as it's a monthly subscription. The only drawback is that if you want to use CS legally, your only option is to pay $350 as a one-time payment. I've been messing around with it past week (using the trial) and it seems I remember most things and am pretty comfortable to use it. It was pretty straight-forward and I think everyone can learn it. I remember I liked CS a lot because of its simplicity and user-friendliness. Serious question - I've used Camtasia Studio around a couple years ago and got pretty proficient with it (using the 'no-wifi' workaround to get it for free) - but since then I've never needed a video editing software, until now.
